SACAQM takes the stage at the United Nations

SACAQM took the stage at the United Nations Office at Geneva during the AIFOD Geneva Summit 2026, participating in the dialogue “Is Bigger Always Better in AI?” The discussion, held in the Assembly Hall of the Palais des Nations, explored whether increasingly large AI models are always the most effective approach, particularly when cost, accessibility and the needs of developing countries are considered.

Drawing on SACAQM’s experience in AI-powered air-quality monitoring, the discussion highlighted the evolution from smaller models designed for specific forecasting tasks towards Agentic AI: systems capable of combining data, analytical tools and advanced AI models to address more complex questions. SACAQM emphasized that the objective should not simply be to deploy the largest possible model, but to build intelligent systems in which the appropriate models and tools are selected according to the problem being solved.

“For SACAQM, the future lies in Agentic AI. Rather than relying on a single increasingly large model, we see AI evolving towards systems of specialized agents that can work with real-time environmental data, apply the right models to the right tasks, and transform complex measurements into actionable intelligence. Carefully constraining these agents around well-defined problems can deliver powerful results while keeping AI efficient, accessible and relevant to the environments in which it is deployed.”

SACAQM’s participation at the United Nations reflects its growing contribution to the international discussion on how Agentic AI can be translated into practical, affordable solutions for environmental monitoring and public benefit, particularly across the Global South.
