SACAQM Sensors Arrive in Leeds to Support the SYNERGIA Project

A new batch of 40 AI_r air-quality sensors has arrived in Leeds, marking an important step in the rollout of the SYNERGIA Project.

Once deployed, the new sensors will bring the total number of air-quality monitoring devices across Leeds to around 80 sensors. This growing network will help provide a more detailed understanding of how air quality varies across different neighbourhoods and support community-based environmental monitoring.

Beyond collecting air-quality measurements, the SYNERGIA Project is exploring how communities can engage with and interpret environmental data generated by sensor networks. The project aims to better understand how local air-quality information can contribute to community research and healthier, more informed communities.

The project is currently recruiting residents from East, West and South Leeds who are interested in hosting a sensor and potentially participating in community workshops.

This deployment represents another step forward in the collaboration between researchers and communities across the UK and South Africa, supported by the wider SYNERGIA initiative.
