SACAQM was featured on Radio 786 to highlight its recent recognition with a prestigious French award for innovation in artificial intelligence.
The consortium presented how it has adapted methods from CERN into an AI-powered air quality monitoring system. By integrating sensors, communications, and real-time analytics, SACAQM is making large-scale monitoring affordable and effective.
This innovation is now being rolled out in Gauteng, with 500 cost-effective AI-enabled systems set to make the province the most closely monitored region in Africa. The project will help identify pollution hotspots, support policymakers, and improve public health outcomes.
