SACAQM Featured by CGTN Français

We have been covered by CGTN Français in French and CGTN Africa in English. CGTN Français featured SACAQM in a French-language report, highlighting an innovative air quality monitoring project developed by physicists from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) to address severe air pollution in communities such as Kya sand, Johannesburg. Using low-cost sensors deployed in homes and industrial areas, the system provides real-time air quality monitoring and detects pollution spikes across urban regions. Integrated artificial intelligence analyzes the collected data and sends alerts to residents, helping them take preventive measures during hazardous pollution events. The project aims to deploy around 500 monitoring systems across Gauteng before expanding to other regions in South Africa, contributing to greater environmental accountability and public health protection.

SACAQM continues to work with local and international partners to enhance air quality data accessibility and environmental awareness across communities, industries, and government sectors. Through ongoing collaboration and technological innovation, the initiative seeks to support evidence-based decision-making and promote healthier, more sustainable environments.
