SACAQM is proud to announce the deployment of 18 low-cost air quality monitoring sensors across key areas in Mpumalanga, including Grootvlei, Balfour, Greylingstad, and the Vaal region. The deployment forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen community-driven air quality monitoring and improve access to environmental data in affected areas.

This expanded deployment network will also play a critical role in strengthening regional pollution tracking and early warning capabilities. Strategically positioning SACAQM sensors across parts of Mpumalanga and the Vaal region will help detect and monitor pollution events and airborne particulate movement travelling towards Johannesburg. The data collected will serve as an important first point of detection, enhancing the SACAQM alert system and improving the ability to provide communities with timely air quality notifications and environmental insights.
