We are proud to share that SACAQM has been featured by Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC).
The article highlights how our AI_r project — combining low-cost air quality monitors with AI tools — is helping communities across Gauteng’s industrial heartland to understand and respond to toxic air pollution in real time.
With more than 500 monitors being deployed, and data made openly available through our public dashboard, the project is bringing environmental justice closer to vulnerable communities, while also informing government and public health responses.
This recognition from IDRC underscores the global relevance of our work and the importance of AI-driven, locally built solutions for protecting public health.
