The Consortium for Air Quality Monitoring, represented by Mr. Lotta Mayana,

delivered a compelling presentation at the SALGA Northern Cape Provincial

Members Assembly (PMA) 2024, an event attended by the Speaker of the

Legislature, Hon. N. Klaaste, various municipal mayors, the leadership of SALGA,

and numerous other stakeholders. Mr. Mayana’s presentation focused on the Health

Impacts of Air Pollution and innovative, cost-effective solutions designed for

municipalities. He showcased the transformative potential of dense monitoring

networks and AI-driven predictions, emphasizing their ability to enhance predictive

accuracy, provide actionable insights for evidence-based decision-making, and

identify pollution hotspots. Attendees were guided on utilizing localized, high-quality

data via tailored dashboards and legal frameworks to enforce air quality standards

and improve community health outcomes.

Mr. Mayana further highlighted the immense airshed potential of the Northern Cape,

which benefits from low air pollution levels, positioning the province as a hub for
